Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek said the Western Balkans will be one of the key priorities of his country’s EU Council presidency, which begins in July 2022, adding that that it would be a success if a date for the EU accession of Serbia and Montenegro were announced during the presidency.
When it comes to the Western Balkans, Kulhanek said it was “a pity” that an intergovernmental conference on the integration of Albania and North Macedonia had not been held yet that would help unblock the EU accession talks with both countries.
This is also why he would like a summit of the EU members and the Western Balkan countries to be organised in the Czech Republic during the presidency, for instance, at Prague Castle, the presidential seat.
