In separate deals, foreign firms are set to begin oil and gas exploration in each of Bosnia’s two entities.
In Republika Srpska, a Russian-Serbian joint venture is beginning exploration, while the Federation plans to sign a two-year deal with Royal Dutch Shell.
Bosnia boasts impressive hydroelectric capacity, which allows it to produce much of its own power. Authorities in the two entities hope oil and gas discoveries will make Bosnia a regional energy player as well.
