The BiH Constitutional Court has issued a ruling in a case concerning the law that governs the election of members of the Federation’s House of Peoples. After a complaint from a member of the HDZ party leadership, the court found that the current law is at odds with the BiH constitution, and ordered that the laws be “harmonized.”
The complainant argued that the current system gives Bosniaks undue influence over a large number of the Croat and Serb delegates elected, who in turn select delegates to the BiH parliament.
Some experts have suggested that the ruling may prove impossible to implement.
