After several days of meetings with officials and civil society representatives, the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council issued its biennial communique covering a range of issues. In the statement, the Steering Board criticizes Republika Srpska’s September referendum on the national holiday. It also calls on entity and BiH leaders to respect the competencies of the entities as well as of BiH, and it calls out party leaders in the Federation for obstructing the work of the entity parliament. In addition, the statement remarks on EU-mandated reforms, municipal elections, the ongoing electoral crisis in Mostar, and the “threats of radicalism and extremism.”
