BiH presidency chair Mladen Ivanic told reporters on the 21st anniversary of the Dayton Accords that the idea of a second Dayton treaty, or of modifications to the original General Framework Agreement, was unrealistic. Parties within BiH, according to Mr. Ivanic, have completely different and contradictory ideas about what changes should be made, and there is no will among the international community for such an effort.
“It would be impossible to form the same group of countries participants again with all of them having the same views and opinions. Raising the topic of amending the agreement would mean supporting three completely different visions of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Ivanic warns….
According to him, over the past four terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina has not been the focus of interest of the US or Russian presidents, rather of a much lower level of bureaucrats from ministries.
“To expect the world to engage in our issue is completely naïve,” said Ivanic.
As for the European path, he explained, Europe isn’t going to make anyone adjust their constitution. It will only seek a stance from BiH, a complex state within its borders, either through the coordination mechanism on EU-related matters or some other way.
