The European Commission announced today a proposal for a new security process for citizens of non-EU states in Europe who do not require visas to enter the EU. The new system would require such travelers to complete an online application and provide additional personal information to EU authorities.
Each application will be automatically processed, checking the applicants through different databases, including INTERPOL and EUROPOL.
Those who pass the security check will get travel authorization “within minutes after the application has been submitted”, according to the Commission.
