The leaders of BiH and the entities announced on Wednesday that the structure of the EU-BiH coordination mechanism has been finalized, with the approval of all parties. The mechanism is intended to create a single, unified point of contact between all levels of government and the EU.
Zeljka Cvijanovic, the prime minister of Republika Srpska, explained that the document should regulate the interaction between all the various levels of government in the country.
“The point is [creating an] interaction between all the different levels of government in accordance with the constitution, so that we might decide an unanimous position when it comes to communications with the EU,” Cvijanovic said.
She added that the agreement represents an opportunity “to get a green light from the EU by the end of the year”.
Croat member of the BiH presidency Dragan Covic had voiced reservations about the mechanism after his party was left out of negotiations between Bosniak and Serb leaders on the issue, but he and his HDZ party have apparently given their approval to the final document.
