The Court of BiH issued a press release on Monday responding sharply to recent accusations of the politicization of judicial proceedings. The immediate inspiration for the Court’s rebuke was a series of comments made by Fahrudin Radoncic and his allies, all implying that the indictment and detention of Radoncic is politically motivated, and is a threat to the Federation and BiH coalition governments. In response, the Court expressed its “consternation at the too loose behavior of certain politicians who give themselves the right to shift the burden of their own responsibility onto judicial institutions.”
“By suggesting to the Court what kind of decision it should make, for the benefit of political coalitions, certain politicians have overtly pushed for unequal status of citizens before the law. Everyone must be equal before the law, and it would be wise for the politicians to finally accept this fact, and stop advocating the opposite….
“…nobody should give himself the right to belittle the state-level judicial institutions merely because they are doing what they are supposed to do. Using base words such as staged trial/indictment, draconian prohibitive measures, state mafia with tentacles in the judiciary, scandalous decisions, secret hand etc. best shows what individuals must resort to in the absence of real arguments and valid evidence.”
