An Austrian court handed down a sentence last week in the case of Bosnian citizen Fikret Begic, who was arrested in Croatia last year. Begic was charged in Austria–where he had been living–with recruiting for the Islamic State.
Austrian prosecutors said Begic actively cooperated with ISIS, for which he was also recruiting volunteers. He also had quit his flat in Graz because he was planning to join IS himself….
He was arrested in November 2015 and is also currently on trial in Graz for having recruited more than 160 persons for ISIS, according to Austrian authorities.
Begic has been sentenced to eight years in prison for this initial conviction.
