Parliament Committee Decides not to Sack Vilic – BalkanInsight

A BiH parliamentary committee has decided not to punish Mirsad Vilic, head of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, for allegedly failing to ensure the safety of Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic at Srebrenica commemorations last month. The committee held hearings on Vilic’s role after BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektic called for the coordination chief’s dismissal.

However, the committee which has the mandate to decide Vilic’s fate did not support the minister’s demand.

“This initiative…did not get the needed support but that does not mean this question is over. It is a very serious issue here, an incident which has an international character and this has to be brought to an end,” Zika Krunic, president of the committee, said.

Security Minister Mektic blamed Vilic for organizational omissions in the field where the police coordination body was supposed to act.
