Republika Srpska Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic responded today to a statement issued by the PIC Steering Board, which called the RS’ plans to hold a referendum on the legitimacy of the BiH Court “unconstitutional.”
“Had they wanted this not to happen, they would have limited these institutions to the jurisdictions of the state, and would not have interfered the way they like in the jurisdictions of the Entity judicial institutions, and they would have prevented them from being, as is the case now, a safe haven for war criminals.
They would have shown us that all victims are equally important to them, and then we would have considered them partners to all. They would have visited our cemeteries and would have respected Republika Srpska insignia, and would not ask that they be removed from premises where they sit. Since these institutions have been formed in a clumsy way, they would have at least made their practice more decent had they wanted it. Hadn’t this been a fair offer from our side?” Cvijanovic asked.
Cvijanovic said that it would be better if they would stop threatening with the powers of the OHR since by such behaviour they inflicted damage on all in BiH, disabled BiH from developing an internal dialogue and moving towards the EU.
Proponents of the referendum in RS assert that the BiH Court’s jurisdiction is unconstitutional.
