According to Republika Srpska’s minister of interior, Dragan Lukac, the situation in the city of Zvornik is “normal” following an attack on Monday in which a man allegedly connected to the jihadi movement opened fire inside a police station. The alleged attacker, identified as Nerdin Ibric, was killed in the the attack. One policeman died as well, and two were wounded.
Local and RS authorities are cooperating with SIPA in the investigation, according to Lukac.
Local media are reporting that an alleged comrade of the attacker, Avdulah Hasanovic, has been arrested in connection with the attack. Hasanovic reportedly had been in Syria at some point recently, and may have connections to ISIS. According to press accounts, he was among those arrested by SIPA in a 2014 sweep of suspected jihadi recruits.
