Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik spoke to the RS National Assembly on Wednesday night, after the RSNA debated–and unanimously approved– the final version of the BiH Presidency’s Joint Statement of commitment to reforms. The Statement was redrafted in response to recommendations from the SNSD and other parties, who felt that the original draft had overstepped the authorities of the BiH-level government.
“I am completely content with this because we have shown unity on this important topic. By the conclusions we have set certain conditions and limitations for the implementation of the statement,” Dodik stated in a closing speech at a special session of the parliament late on Wednesday.
President Dodik also expressed his opinion that, though EU-mandated reforms are necessary, the process of implementing them will involve further challenges to the entities.
“It is possible that this statement will be politicised further, but I plead that it does not happen in Republika Srpska. It is clear that the entity authorities are facing an enormous amount of work in terms of the statement and I appeal to the Srpska Government to speed up the course it has already adopted in the Economic Policy in order to anticipate many operational plans. Anything that is not in the interest of Republika Srpska will be rejected.
