Following a breakdown in government formation negotiations, Democratic Front president Zeljko Komsic told press on Thursday that his party and the SDA were likely to agree to a moratorium on new government hiring. The DF earlier accused the SDA of making appointments to government positions without approval of the DF and HDZ, which are partners with the SDA in the Federation and BiH-level assemblies. The crisis is the latest issue to hold up government formation.
Once a moratorium is established, according to Komsic, the work of forming governments can continue.
“But the key thing is to get fit with those appointments. So that, as the law requires now, those whose mandate has expired, they are replaced only by those who will temporarily perform that duty, in an acting capacity, and after the governments will be formed, every government to make an assessment, first of all, of the professional staff it needs,” said Komsic.
