SIPA Chief’s Indictment Confirmed – BalkanInsight

The Court of BiH confirmed last week the Prosecutor’s indictment of Goran Zubac, the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency. Mr. Zubac is charged with “the criminal offence of Lack of Commitment in Office,” in relation to the protests of February 2014, during which demonstrators set fire to government buildings. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Zubac failed to act to protect state property during the protests.

The charging of Zubac is part of a protracted battle between the head of SIPA and the Bosnian state prosecution.

In July last year, without getting approval from the prosecution, SIPA arrested Bosniak lawmaker Semsudin Mehmedovic on suspicion of involvement in war crimes against Serb civilians.

After the arrest, SIPA accused the prosecutor’s office and chief prosecutor Goran Salihovic of obstructing its investigation.
