Republika Srpska president Milorad Dodik traveled to Russia today to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. President Dodik said that a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin would be “the main event” of his trip. “I will inform him of the situation we are facing and see in what way and what he can do in terms of a long-term economic and financial assistance to Republika Srpska,” Mr. Dodik told press.
The president will also meet with representatives of Gazprom, Zarubezhneft and other long-time partners of Srpska.
He noted that visiting Russia during the crisis was necessary because at this point, Republika Srpska is unable to repair the devastating damage on its own.
