Bakir Izetbegovic, vice president of the SDA and member of the BiH Presidency, sent a message to Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following municipal elections across Turkey in which Erdogan’s AK Party gained a number of seats.
“As you celebrated on Sunday night in Ankara, Istanbul, Antalya and many other cities in your country, Bosniaks rejoiced in Sarajevo, Zenica, Mostar, Gorazde, and Bihac… Every election the AKP enters we monitor with the same excitement and hope as those the SDA enters. Every success to brother Turkey we experience as our own,” said Izetbegovic.
Izetbegovic’s government has faced significant protests from the Turkish public in some areas, and has recently enacted a major crackdown on social media and internet use.
