The Constitutional Court of the Federation ruled on Wednesday that Federation finance minister Ante Krajina, dismissed last week by President Budimir, should retain his post until the Court can issue a final ruling on the legality of his dismissal. Minister Krajina’s removal would have put the Federation in crisis, as he is the only official allowed to sign off on crucial financial matters on the entity’s behalf. His firing would have put salaries, pensions, and a pending IMF loan in jeopardy.
The EU Special Representative issued a statement welcoming the Constitutional Court’s decision, after the EUSR, High Representative, and others in the international community had unsuccessfully urged President Budimir to reverse course.
