In keeping with the recent judgment from the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Maktouf and Damjanovic v Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH Constitutional Court has overturned convictions in 10 war crimes cases. The Constitutional Court overturned the convictions because the defendants had been tried under the 2003 criminal code, which was not in force at the time the crimes were committed.
The Court did not release the names of the defendants in question. Their cases will be retried by the Court of BiH.
