Yesterday’s meeting of BiH party heads in Brussels concluded with an agreement on principles for resolving outstanding issues. Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, who heads the SNSD, has announced that he plans to ask the RS National Assembly to vote on those principles before the next Brussels meeting on October 10.
Mr. Dodik told press that the RS is ready to support an agreement on the implementation of the Sejdic-Finci decision and the establishment of a coordination mechanism for EU accession issues.
“Republika Srpska will back any agreement of the relevant political factors on this issue in the Federation by October 10. If they fail to reach an agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina could face sanctions,” said Dodik.
He noted that the offered solution for the establishment of the coordination mechanism is in full compliance with the European standards.
“In that respect, there are two issues to be resolved in the Federation – participation of cantons in the coordination mechanism and the decision-making system,” said Dodik, adding that all the actors who have constitutional competence on European issues must be involved in the coordination mechanism.
Srpska representatives can go to Brussels on October 10 for the continuation of talks without any anxiety, he said.
“Republika Srpska has resolved the Sejdić-Finci issue and we won’t bear the responsibility for any failure. We want to be part of success,” Dodik said.
