Republika Srpska Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule yesterday to discuss the need new negotiations on outstanding issues relating to Bosnia’s relationship with the European Union. Foremost among these issues are the implementation of the Sejdic-Finci decision and the establishment of a coordination mechanism by which agencies at all levels of government can work together toward political goals.
“These are two issues which have been unresolved for a long time, and they pertain to the future European road of BiH. The issue of implementing the Sejdic-Finci decision represents a formal obstacle to any movement on the European road. A while ago, political subjects, supported by the EU, arrived at certain common positions, but, unfortunately, the decision has not been implemented,” Cvijanovic told SRNA by phone from Brussels.
“Having in mind everything that will happen in the future when it comes to getting the EU support through the new aid programme – IPA 2, a coordination mechanism will be needed so that every area intended for support might be supported by such European funds,” Cvijanovic said.
