After refusing yesterday to sign off on a new EU-sponsored border agreement with Croatia, Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic reversed his position just hours before the signing ceremony in Brussels. Mr. Radmanovic had previously said that the position of Republika Srpska had not been represented by the commission that drafted the agreement, designed to ease border crossings for citizens of BiH and Croatia living near the boundary.
Radmanovic said on Tuesday that he had consulted with the Republika Srpska President and Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik and Zeljka Cvijanovic, who had agreed that the proper procedures for naming members of the negotiating commission on the border had not been respected.
However, bearing in mind the looming deadlines – the ceremony is due on Wednesday – they agreed the border deal should be approved.
After the last-minute decision, the signing went ahead in Brussels this afternoon.
