The Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council met this week in Sarajevo, and issued a communique expressing their concern “about the lack of progress on the reform agenda, which has resulted in the country falling further behind the rest of the region, particularly in terms of EU integration.”
The PIC chastised BiH leaders for failing to implement the Sejdic-Finci ruling. It also raised the issue of the political crisis in the Federation, and criticized the RS government for implementing its own law on personal identification numbers, a law the BiH-level assemblies have been unable to pass. The PIC also praised the efforts of the expert working group–backed by the US Embassy–that is developing proposals for constitutional reform in the Federation.
Russia did not endorse the communique.
