European Parliament Votes Against BiH Sanctions – BalkanInsight

The European Parliament voted yesterday against a measure introduced by EMP Doris Pack, which would have suspended BiH from the Council of Europe because of the country’s lack of progress on the EU accession Road Map. The measure would also have suspended BiH from its current financial assistance agreement with the EU.

BiH Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija criticized Ms. Pack strongly for the move, while RS President Milorad Dodik expressed his agreement with Pack, saying that BiH “does not deserve” a place in the Council of Europe at present. Mr. Dodik said that the RS has put forward solutions to the Sejdic-Finci issue, but that the leaders of the Federation were not ready to agree.
