After a meeting today with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Zeev Elkin, Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said that he is “proud of” the friendship between the RS and Israel, and that cooperation on joint projects in the areas of industry, agriculture, hydroelectric engineering, education, and culture.
Deputy Foreign Minister Elkin also expressed Israel’s desire to continue and expand cooperation with RS, and said that it was “a great honor and a privilege to participate” in ceremonies commemorating WWII atrocities at the Donja Gradina memorial.
“We cannot build future without mentioning the past. That is why we support the RS in preservation and commemoration of what happened in Jasenovac and Donja Gradina. We had an open discussion, that was honest…which demonstrated that we have many things in common, and which gave an impetus for further cooperation in the development of economy, commerce, culture, and education. That is our common perspective,” Elkin said.
RS President Dodik also announced the impending opening of a Jewish cultural center in Banja Luka.
