A Sarajevo-based NGO, the Research and Identification Centre, has published a book listing the names of 96,000 people killed during the war of the 1990s. The list is the product of extensive research and cross-referencing.
According to the Centre’s director, “more than 200,000 pieces of data were collected, compared and evaluated by an international team of experts in order to count the victims.” The director also said that the list was not meant to represent all those killed in the war, only those whose identities and deaths had been sufficiently proven.
