The RS government this week instructed two entity ministries, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance, to make arrangements to increase the manpower and capacity of the RS’s district prosecutors’ offices in order to more efficiently handle the prosecution of war crimes.
According to delivered reports and budgetary requests, it is necessary to secure funds for the total of 11 prosecutors, 13 experts, 18 administrative-technical workers in districts’ prosecutor’s offices of RS, in order to prosecute the ongoing war crime cases, but also to continue the process of transfer of war crime cases from judicial institutions of BiH to institutions of RS. The report on the work of the Supervisory Body for Monitoring of the Implementation of the State War Crimes Strategy in the first six months of this year, on the basis of which the Ministry of Justice sent the information to the Government, says that it is necessary to secure additional 2.45KM million ($1.62 million) for the district prosecutor’s offices in RS for the resolution of war crime cases. According to the data of the Republic Prosecutor’s Office of RS, the district prosecutor’s offices of Srpska currently have 508 unresolved war crime cases, and from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH they received 89 cases.
