RS President Milorad Dodik met today with Jakob Finci and Dervo Sejdic to explain to them the RS’s proposal for implementation of the European Court of Human Rights’ ruling, which would open the way for ethnic “others” to run for the BiH presidency and other offices. The RS proposal, which would maintain direct election to the presidency while removing ethnic restrictions, was praised by the two men, who brought the original case in the European court.
Messrs. Sejdic and Finci “thanked president Dodik for having received them, since he, as they said, is the first politician in BiH who expressed readiness to talk with them about the implementation of this court ruling.”
The EU “roadmap” for BiH required all BiH parties to submit an agreed-upon plan for the implementation of the ruling. Thus far the parties have failed to agree, though all have submitted their own proposals.
