New changes to the law on local elections make it likely that the next mayor of Srebrenica will be a Serb. The previous election law for Srebrenica, which differed from election laws in other parts of the country, based voter eligibility on the 1991 census, in which Bosniaks made up the majority of the town’s population.
With the new law in place, and Serbs in the majority, all of the RS’s predominantly Serb political parties have agreed to back a single candidate for the mayor’s seat.
