This report from B92 provides additional details on yesterday’s European Parliament debate on BiH’s potential EU candidacy. According to EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule, “The EU needs to witness convincing efforts to make progress on the European agenda,” beginning with changes to the BiH constitution to bring it in line with EU legal standards. Fule also suggested that the EU wishes to see a stronger state-level government in Sarajevo.
A passage that reportedly asked Islamic authorities in BiH to disavow extremist Wahhabism was removed from the final draft of the resolution adopted by parliament.
